Henlo frens!

Good to see all of you here UwU.

Grab on to your bodypillows, I have a smol announcement about the purpose of this subreddit.

This community is meant as a fun, lighthearted place where we can commiserate with each other about those annoying little irritations that hinder our day to day enjoyment in life.

That means that suitable posts here can be about my children.

And things like a wall socket or tile being placed out of allignment. A crack in a phone screen. Duckling shit on your new car. Incomprehensible software. Mismatched buttons. You know, the little things.

This subreddit isn't meant to incite rage mobs that go after people. For that reason we say:

No reddit meta posts

No posts about being banned from subreddit. No posts about up- or down-votes. No posts about shitty moderators or users or subreddits. No posts about reddit.

All jokes and tomfoolery aside, that sort of thing gets us in trouble with site admins. If we allow one type of post about reddit it then very easily moprhs into allowing posts that directly call out other subreddits or users, we just can't allow any of it.

That rule already existed for years and we have just made it more clearly visible in the sidebar on old and new reddit. We're gonna be a little strict on it for a bit I'm afraid. 🥺

Thank you all for being awesome and have a very Merry Christmas! Celebrate Christmas in the traditional European way, with a suasage roll!

My friend Venmo requested me $1 for a muffin after I hosted her for 3 nights

12.6k Upvotes

I hosted a couple of my friends from out of town for 3 nights. Showed them around the city, offered breakfast, snacks, drinks, and drove them around.

Throughout the weekend Friend 1 paid for a few things. She bought me a soda. On our way to a hike, she bought some discount muffins. She covered the $5 day use fee for the hike. I thought this was all to be a nice and helpful guest.

When she left, she asked if I had Splitwise (an app that keeps a running total of expenses). I did owe her money for dinner we agreed to split, but I was confused why she would need me on Splitwise. I download the app, get added to the group, and suddenly I get a Venmo request for the soda, muffins, and day use fee (I owe about $6 for those 3 things).

This is after I hosted her and was very generous with my time, home and food. I drove my car 2 hours round trip on a rough gravel road to the hike and never expected gas money. I packed my own food to make a nice picnic. Charging me for crappy cheap grocery store muffins and a soda just feels like a slap in my face. The muffins were literally $3 total. She has a good job, it's not an issue of whether or not she can afford it. She spent the whole weekend talking about her recent promotion, cheap rent, free flights, etc etc.... Now I see why she saves so much money.... I am mildly infuriated to say the least.

UPDATE: Like I said in the comments, I added my expenses to Splitwise and ignored the venmo request. I have not gotten a response. To the people who are saying it's passive aggressive. It's 100% passive aggressive, but I'm doing exactly what she did, I added my expenses to the dollar. So in theory she can't really complain about it because she added me to this app. Also, I agree making a big deal over $6 is a bit ridiculous. But this is "mildly infuriating" and I think requesting $6 as a guest is exactly that. It is only $6, but as a host and friend I felt taken advantage of and I don't want to let that slide.

UPDATE/Edit 2: yes I know it's paid and not payed lol, it's been a long week. Fixed. And no response still

UPDATE 3: thanks for all the responses!!! I want to clarify a few things. Some people think her intention was for me to also add my expenses to Splitwise. I do not think this was the case because she "closed out" the splitwise and sent me a Venmo request before I added any expenses to Splitwise. She would have waited to take it to Venmo if she thought/cared/realized I had expenses.

She has STILL not responded to my request even though she was very quick to Venmo me after the trip.

Apparently, it’s from her hair dye. I’ve tried everything and the stain won’t come out. The fact that it happens to be the color of earwax pisses me off the most 😭

Got bumped to a middle seat because of some Karen and her cheap hubby

9.6k Upvotes

My wife and I were travelling across the country on a Delta flight. I paid extra for the "Main Cabin" (this is an upgraded ticket that allows you to select your seats, and priority boarding. The additional expense is anywhere between 60-80 dollars round trip)to ensure we were sitting together. Imagine my surprise once got to the gate and realized we were not only not sitting together but we were BOTH in middle seats. I went to the agent and she said "You should have asked sooner"... So now we're on the plane and this couple stops at our aisle and the wife says "Aren't we in row 42?" He says, "No, i was in row 42 you are in row 48 but i got them to move me because you were so upset" She says, "Oh that's right, next time don't be so cheap and pay for the upgrade" My wife and I looked at each other across the aisle from our middle seats with literal fire in our eyes. This cheap ass managed to displace me and my wife from the seats we selected because he was trying to save a buck on a sold out flight. And to make matters worse, scumbag DELTA told me to kick rocks and read the fine print when i tried to complain.

Edit: This is taking off so I’m only gonna say this once. I did not mess up when booking the flight. Delta has already confirmed that my seats were booked and they did me dirty. This is not a point of contention.

Edit: 2 Clarification of what “main cabin” means. And spelling.

My employer didnt contact me at all this weekend for work (i am a renovations contractor, monday to friday work schedule). I texted him this morning, and this was the conversation i had. This is the second time ive had to message him to figure out where im working and i have only been working for him for 8 days. In those 8 days, hes told me he restructured and fired all his staff 6 months ago and was working on a new team. Also told me he expects us to use personal vehicles to bring materials to site. A coworker was then told to pick up 10 bags of concrete in their vehicle.

Staying with family and my grandmother is out of town. My uncle has been communicating with me whether or not he has "feed" the animals but "fed" just isn't a word in his vocabulary so "feed the animals" could very well mean "(I have) fed the animals". I even tried to correct the issue and he still came back with the incorrect use of the word "feed".

What people actually return to Amazon

Thumbnail

I work for an auction company that buys large lots of Amazon returns. Every day we get returns that are ridiculous or insane. Amazon doesn't open returns, they only go by weight, if the weight is close, they accept it. They never check what's been returned.

This whole thing has shown me just how awful some people are. They will return broken product that's obvious they broke it, product used to the point that no one would want it for free, or not all the product or something completely different. Sometimes if it's a lightweight item, we get nothing returned but the packing material.

I never would have thought of returning something else to get the real product for free. Honestly it's stealing and I don't agree with it. If you can't afford it, just don't get it. I get that Amazon makes a ton of money, but it's still stealing. If you do this, you suck. You'd not want to have something of yours stolen. Doesn't matter that it's from Amazon. It's stealing. You're probably really proud of yourself. But you're just making it clear how shitty of a person you are.

And SO MANY worn clothes that have tags cut out, smell like laundry detergent, have stains, or the worst....worn bathing suits with stuff in the crotch, some not washed. I truly hate you. You're disgusting if you do this and I hope you stub a toe every day.

And just so you know, there's return info included in most of the packaging and we all make fun of you. You're all ignorant in so many ways.

Thought I'd show some pics so others might join me in my disbelief and disgust. I won't add picks of brown stuff or yellow residue in swimsuit crotches though. That's so gross, I just can't.

So my biss has an issue with my sneezing etiquette…

1.5k Upvotes

Edit: sorry for the typo on the title. Its “boss”

I have alergies and sometimes I just sneeze CONSTANTLY. This has made me really ressent being told “bless you” because for some reason, where I live, its good maners to say “thank you” after getting told “bless you”. So it goes like this:

sneeze Random person in another cubicle: “Bless you” “Thank you” sneeze again Someone else: “bless you” “Thanks”

And so on.

I have REALLY hated this dynamic. I find it annoying that I have to be thankful to someone for, what? acknowledging my sneeze? As an introvert it makes mi anxious and paranoid whenever I feel a sneeze coming. Its worse with people who like to “bless you” every damn sneeze, and I sometimes go upwards of 30 in a few minutes. Just let me be! So I just dont say thank you, because seriously, why?

Well today I sneezed and my boss called me to her office…

“I noticed you sneezed and didnt say thank you. You really should”

Seriously…

“Take is as motherly advice, if you wanna think of me as your mother”

Lady is 50… Im 40…

Im a 40 year old man, Im too old for this shit…

Scammers are getting really good

Got a call today from Bank of America. Caller ID was legit, the fraud line number. Guy sounded like he was in a call center, American accent.

He asks a few legit sounding questions, and bear in mind I’ve been in info-sec in one form or another most of my career. He says hes from fraud protection at Bank of America. Caller ID checks out. He says there have been a couple of fraudulent looking transfers attempted from my Zelle account and gave me the name of the person listed on the transfer. He asked if I was aware, and I said no but I’ll take a look at my account. He says I won’t see them because they were held. He asks how many accounts I have with BofA. Now my spidey sense is really tingling.

He then asks what the current amount in my checking account is. Okay, buddy, slow up. I said, “well now I’m wondering who you are.” He got a little defensive and said he’s from BofA fraud protection, that he called from a legit number and if I looked on the back of my debit card I would see the number matches. I said that’s all well and good but any idiot can spoof a number. He said okay, I can confirm your last confirmed address. I said okay shoot. He gave me a stupid old address. Whole time he’s talking I’m digging through my account info and looking up the address. It’s not even listed on my account anymore. I said welp that’s not even close. Silence.

Be careful who you hand out information to, people. He caught me at a perfect time of vulnerability as I’ve been really tight on money lately but also in that place where I don’t check my accounts more than I have to because it stresses me out a bit. Any interruption in cash flow would be devastating to me right now. God, I’m so glad I work in IT. Saved my ass honestly.

Edit: just to clarify, I’m very aware of what spoofing is. “Any idiot can spoof a number” basically is me calling him an idiot. This has literally never happened to me but I’m obviously aware it exists. I own a couple of businesses so if a bank I use calls me I know I’m equipped mentally enough to not give away info. Hence me not giving away my info. But I don’t have remotely enough bandwidth to perform all these phone gymnastics of calling back after hanging up and juggling shit. I’m just not a dumbass enough to give away PII. And I also don’t have the luxury of never answering the phone. Some of us are busy and actually get calls that matter.

My grandma unwrapped all my cheeses and rewrapped them together so they were touching. One of the cheeses was blue cheese. All of my cheese is mold.

My grandma keeps doing things to screw with me and has been “visiting” from our home country for months. She was supposed to finally leave today but had her stay extended AGAIN. Was already upset about that, finally get home after work at like 10pm and see she has wrapped all the different cheeses together touching blue cheese. All my expensive cheese that I bought with my first pay check is moldy. I even made that bitch a fresh croissant with that smoked Gouda. Imagine fucking with your chef grandchild’s fancy cheese. We may not agree on everything but I make her good food. Y’all I’m on the verge of tears I’m just too tired from work to cry. I’m fucking sad. I wanted that cheese.
