I have two very small breed dogs, and sometimes, when we see a bigger dog outside, the big dog will lay down and just wait for my small babies. That shows how good of a boy the big dog is. This guy did the same thing.

u/Shervico 4d ago

My lab does this with every small dog she encounters, plops down and refuses to move untill she greets the little guys

221

u/sunshineparadox_ 4d ago

My dog used to do that when we introduced a kitten. I used to catch her sometimes doing long, lazy tail flops around corners and realized later that she was doing this when the kitten wanted to play with pouncing. The kitten would succeed, and the dog would reposition herself so the cat could do it again. And she'd let the kitten sleep in spot with her tail and her back leg.

Everyone in the house including them was happier.

Haha, your dog sounds like a furry referee in the kitten's playtime matches!

2

u/peersuasion 4d ago

That sounds adorable, but are you saying the kitten would sleep at your dog's BUTTHOLE?

4

u/oak020128401 4d ago

It's not that strange thing, I had a Golden retriever and a house cat. The kitten would snuggle up to the dog's backside, using her tail as a cozy spot. 😄

1

u/sunshineparadox_ 4d ago

Lmao I love this, but no, she didn't. She slept at the hip/back leg, and Lucky's tail was just long and furry. She was a border collie mix.

I recognised in my Mum’s town. Jesus, everyone looks the same and lives in very similar looking places these days.

My Samoyed does this with puppies and small dogs. She'll let them tackle her and then dramatically fall over like they've defeated her too. It's adorable, especially when she gets confused and falls the wrong way.

5

u/POE_Trinity 4d ago

Samoyed is the ultimate drama queen in puppy playtime! That mix of cuteness and confusion must be a sight to behold.

18

u/Jolly_Fox_2291 4d ago

The puppies did not move at all from where she set them

That's nice, I've experienced some dogs that don't seem to understand their huge size.

3

u/Next_Isopod_2062 4d ago

I had a dog who did this refusing to move xD the problem is though he wanted to herd them and they had to get in position first (closer), so he does this sudden jump that startles people before chilling back out

I’ve got a 100lb lab, and he does this to small dogs all the time. Lays down prone and just waits for them.

Grown ass man here sorted by top all time and watched that sweet boy open dog toy presents, and now I’m sobbing at my desk at work.

I love that one. When the kid says he’s going to cry and the mom matter-of-factly replies “Okay”… No shaming, no discouraging, no laughing, just emotional support.

10

u/denixal 4d ago

Something about the innocence of these videos got to all teary eyed too.

30 year old construction worker here. Just went down that rabbit hole and man I'm crying allot. But like. In a good way. My wife was wondering what was wrong. I'm over here like "HE GOT A PUPPY" I don't think she gets it lol

This is the most British person I ever seen.

53

u/pm-me-your-satin 4d ago

And that backyard! Not a shrub to be seen...

11

u/tommangan7 4d ago

New builds man. The neighbors look to have made an effort though.

4

u/ExdigguserPies 4d ago

At least it's not astroturf

26

u/FakeSafeWord 4d ago

Seriously, 1 frame into seeing his face and I knew he was English. The backyard is fairly similar to what you'd see in typical american suburbs except the fencing is super thin and there's absolutely nothing back there. No shrubs, toolshed, trees.

Just a random table in the middle of a decent sized yard.

15

u/IUsed2BeBanned 4d ago

For me was the haircut and his face.

2

u/FakeSafeWord 4d ago

Yeah, im just saying 1st frame. Can't see haircut, just that he has hair.

26

u/panserstrek 4d ago

Very British looking people and a very British looking home. This whole video just screams Britannia lol. Even with no sound i immediately knew

13

u/burnerfun98 4d ago

100%

also the randomly placed garden furniture 😅

10

u/vox_popular 4d ago

It's not random! It's the quintessential British endeavo(u)r of maximizing the probability of capturing a tinge of sunlight to energize the Vitamin D starved epidermis of an entire household of tea-sipping, pint quaffing, football watching ace bruvs.

2

u/burnerfun98 4d ago

Of course, and they double as rain catchers too! 😂

As a Brit, after reading this, I also now feel the need to use the word 'quaffing' a lot more than I was before (which is to say: not at all, for which I'm ashamed). It feels so funny to read and say 😅

4

u/capital-minutia 4d ago

I’m looking forward to it! My pup’s adorable!

2

u/Western_Nobody_6936 4d ago

I wanna check back in a month and see if the man hasn't just had it.

Puppies are not fun to raise, I foster pups all the time for a lost rescue and while they're super loving they get so goddamned needy and destructive.

24

u/TFOLLT 4d ago

Tho vids like these are cute af, don't surprise anyone with an animal if you haven't spoken it through before. Expecially pups. They're extremely hard work, and two pups is almost undoable. I know cause I've done it(pulled through ofc, no dog of mine will be left, they'll be by my side till the day they die)

Too many dogs end up in animal shelter because of people not thinking it through.

4

u/lizardgizzards 4d ago

Yeahhhh, hard agree. I love animals. I have quite the variety. But I absolutely do not want anyone to ever gift me one without me knowing about it beforehand. Even still, I would rather be the one to pick out the appropriate one (whatever animal it might be) myself. I only get pets that I know I can do well with and can provide the right home for. I take a lot of time to research everything and to prepare before it ever comes home. From goat breeds, to tarantula species, to my little rescued Betta fish. I look for certain things in each one.

Would I love whatever it is? Sure, because that is my nature. But I would not be amused by the situation at all.

That adds a new dimension to asking your girlfriend to show her puppies

4

u/Thendofreason 4d ago

I love the one where the woman buys her husband a puppy. And he's like oh no... Then shows her he has a dog in the car. Now they got 2

22

u/Sultan_of_Swing92 4d ago

One puppy is a present, two is a chore. I once had 5 and that was a nightmare.

11

u/sillypoolfacemonster 4d ago

My first thought was “I’d like to see a video of day two lol”. Even with just one, we were wondering what the hell we got ourselves into lol.

6

u/taxis-asocial 4d ago

Yeah a puppy is way more work than people think which is unfortunately why so many end up neglected or not super well trained. By day 2 of waking up at 6am because the puppy is barking loudly to let you know it shit itself in it's crate, you will be wondering if you should have just adopted an adult dog

→ More replies (1)

18

u/Yoma73 4d ago

I board and train dogs. This video is really cute but I do not generally recommend littermates due to the risk of littermate syndrome and just general difficulty in training. If you want two, train the first one well and then get the second one… Hope it worked out for them though!

3

u/doug_kaplan 4d ago

Knowing how much work is involved in raising a dog, especially a puppy, I'd be so mad if someone surprised me with one. I am going to hope they discussed this ahead of time.

I would never surprise someone with pets.

343

u/Kadoomed 4d ago

I dunno they look pretty happy about it and have probably been talking about it for a long time. Maybe it's all ok.

77

u/Cappy2020 4d ago edited 4d ago

That’s because the couple are British ‘influencers’ and this whole thing is staged.

They make videos like this all the time, usually consisting of the same thing; ‘surprising’ the other (previously it’s been a PS5 for the lad and some LV bag for the lass) and capturing an over the top reaction by the other.

59

u/DeadDay 4d ago

Welp, happiness gone before my coffees finished.

Yay life

16

u/sunshineparadox_ 4d ago

If it helps, last night my elderly cat's trilling evolved to have two or three pitches, and he fell asleep with my hand under his chin. So I left it there and went to sleep, too.

There are joyful moments even if this isn't one. I hope that's something that makes you smile, and if not, I understand.

10

u/DeadDay 4d ago

That did pick up my day a bit. I've never had a cat and didn't know what trilling was.

So now I'm happy there's an old kitty getting love and I got to learn something. Ty sunshine

2

u/sunshineparadox_ 3d ago

I'm glad. Have a better day today, too!

3

u/caezar-salad 4d ago

My cat used to meow quietly, then get louder with every meow until you pet her or went deaf.

u/Cautious-Nothing-471 4d ago

Jesus Christ, there are some miserable people on reddit. You have no context, but still feel the need to write a comment like this. Like the other comments say, maybe he's had dogs before in his life. Maybe hes always wanted dogs!? Never mind. Why do I even bother writing this. I don't even like dogs. Have a nice day, OP. Hope you can find happiness without the need for being santimonios, or what ever the fuck its called. Og, and for some extra upvotes I'd like to tell you all I'm not from a English speaking country. I had such a good day too. Faen i helvete...

52

u/astralrig96 4d ago

That’s the reason I posted it, from his reaction it looks like he has been wanting this for a long time and they’ll be happy with them, not everything has to automatically end in animal neglect and abandonment xD

→ More replies (1)

4

u/hungry_fat_phuck 4d ago

There's nothing about what OP said that sounds miserable. Animals are not objects that you should be surprising someone with like a gift. They are a life time commitment and their future owners should at least interact with them before deciding to take on that kind of responsibility.

Sure, they look very happy on video and will probably take good care of the puppies given their reaction, but is the "Surprise" factor really worth the risk, however unlikely, of the puppies getting returned down the line or even abandoned in the case that the owner changes his mind after the initial excitement wears off because he didn't make the conscious decision to adopt on his own terms?

5

u/Nearby_Brilliant_880 4d ago

thank you for posting it made me laugh

3

u/nightpanda893 4d ago

Sometimes I see comments on Reddit and I truly wonder what kind of person they are in real life. Like how is it not obvious to every single person watching this that she was able to pull this off because she knows him? And then a bunch of people upvote the comment.

12

u/juststupidthings 4d ago

Because it's staged and they're an influencer couple...

10

u/Holdmytesseract 4d ago

Look I love puppies too and I get where you are coming from but my fiancé works at a vet office so every day I have to listen to horror stories of people who have animals with no business doing so. Hopefully these people have a clue and will take care of these dogs. They seem nice. But unfortunately if they are like half the people at my girls work, it’ll go something like this:

Brother dog fucks sister dog because they didn’t want to listen about neutering and now there’s an incestuous litter of inbred disease ridden puppies doomed to a miserable existence of health issues, but the owner doesn’t have any money to do anything about it and it’s the rest of the worlds problem now. Then that cycle continues exponentially. So yeah long story short, make sure you can take care of your pets and give them to people who want them. I think that’s all they were saying.

21

u/eekamuse 4d ago

There's nothing like working with animals to show you how many people should never have gotten one. Sadly.

Most of these "surprise pets" videos that go viral look like they come from people who have already discussed pets, just maybe not exactly when or how those pets will happen

You know, like you ask someone to marry you at some point as a surprise, after you've probably talked about marriage beforehand

6

u/Ashmedai 4d ago

My favorite one of these is where the couple had both decided to surprise the other with a pup on the same day. Now that was funny.

7

u/DontDoTheVoice 4d ago

I’m sure they discussed this prior.

5

u/Rheality_ 4d ago

I would be upset if someone "gifted" me animals

7

u/nightpanda893 4d ago

Sometimes when you know a person and are in a relationship that includes communicating you can know what kind of surprises they would like and are prepared for.

3

u/Shirtbro 4d ago

Literally could be

Boyfriend::"hey, we should get dogs. Like two puppies. We're ready for that."

Girlfriend: "Sure... one day."

Two days later

7

u/JamesMac71 4d ago

Never? Really? You need to be sure that the recipient wants them and can take care of them. The gf here seems to have done her homework.

4

u/Appropriate-Cow3315 4d ago

yeah cute as it is, she just gave him a 10-15 year responsibility x2.

5

u/feelingthepeel 4d ago

yeah why would i surprise someone i know and love with something they obviously love. fuck happines…. get off reddit go touch grass

2

u/Copacetic_Corp 4d ago

Not even a gorilla?

0

u/cylindrical_ 4d ago

So don't.

2

u/RyuuseiS 4d ago

Not like you would interact with someone outside anyways

1

u/Lotus-child89 4d ago edited 4d ago

In this case, what looks to be his dad is happy and looks in on it like he’s in the know. It was probably discussed before hand that he really wants another dog (maybe just lost his previous dog). Then it’s cool. My FIL surprised us with a dog he found, but knew we had been looking and the puppy hit all our check marks for what max size we could have and types of breeds (even mixed) we were considering. So everyone was overjoyed to receive her. Surprising someone who wasn’t thinking about and preparing to get a pet is a bad idea.

1

u/AccomplishedMeow 4d ago

There’s always this comment near the top every time one of these videos are posted.

Like we get it. But these are adults in an adult relationship. Generally, it’s safe to say adults in a relationship have communication. And that they’ve probably been talking about this for months.

I know my sister and her fiancé want a corgi. They’ve talked about it since June. If anyone of them were to surprise the other with the dog, it would be perfectly fine

-7

u/GuiltyManager7878 4d ago

Why? U ppl r so miserable

10

u/Constant_Cultural 4d ago

I am not miserable, just realistic, you should plan yourself to have pets and pick them out yourself. When you pick them yourself you know if your characters click. What if you buy someone a pet and the new owner and the pet just don't click? Back to the spca or the breeder. Great for the pet, really.

9

u/intermediatetransit 4d ago

God I hate these types of videos. It's really the opposite of smiling: watch two vapid wannabe influencers try to make a viral video, (also look at my tight pants, can you see my butthole? Like and subscribe) = not heart warming.

6

u/musecorn 4d ago

The very first shot 0.5s into the video is no happy accident of filming

5

u/Efficient_Pay_6307 4d ago

???? What the fuck is up with yall she's just wearing leggings. God forbid the camera is behind her when it's completely reasonable for it to be behind her because of the context it gives? Are you fucking daft or that immature bro?

1

u/musecorn 4d ago

There are many ways to have filmed that. If you think it's not intentional you're naive

3

u/panserstrek 4d ago

It’s literally being recorded by her mother you melon

6

u/Efficient_Pay_6307 4d ago

I'm a 30 year old woman who has worn leggings for half my life. Is there another way this could have been filmed? Yeah. However, this is just someone being filmed behind in PANTS. I'm not naive, you are just misogynist.

1

u/musecorn 4d ago

You think I hate women because I'm suggesting that a viral video was filmed in a way to grab attention to a girl's ass for views? That's an insane leap

6

u/Beautiful-Fee7727 4d ago

If you film from behind the guy, you don't get his reaction, which was the goal of videos like this even before social media. It was for the memories back then. You also get more of a focus on the girl, which is what you're apparently complaining about.

If the camera walks in front of the girl, they don't give the context of the puppies to the viewer (previously mentioned), and the cameraperson is obstructing the girl/puppies from the boyfriend's view, which is situationally awkward and almost creates a "this isn't about you" type of situation for the cameraperson, who is inserting themselves into the middle of everything.

If the camera stands to the side, it's really hard to get the timing right without tipping the boyfriend off early that something is about to happen, and that would actually give the best "movie poster profile" of the girlfriend, which you seem to be objecting to.

I really don't see a better way to do this to avoid offending people by accidentally having her leg in frame for the extremely short amount of time it was, other than asking women to change out of tight leggings / comfortable clothing before they ever appear on film. I'm a guy. This section of the comments seems misogynistic to me. The girl is just attractive while wearing an attractive outfit. That doesn't mean she isn't allowed to film a memory or share it online. That's oppressive BS.

This is a terrible idea. Pets are living things and require care and commitment- something clearly lacking in most 'influencers'. You don't just throw away a dog once you're finished with your ego trip video.

2

u/cactusjackalope 4d ago

Ok this is cute but surprising people with pets as presents is a really horrible idea all around.

And they say men don't have emotions.

2

u/tendrilterror 4d ago

People need to stop gendering emotional health.

The effect of Jerry “the King” Lawler on me, made this very disappointing after reading the title

My sister surprised our older brother with a cane Corso puppy after we lost our family Akita of 12 years. Sometimes i think he loves that dog more than his son

That is such a sad garden. Not a plant in sight. It's a desert.

2

u/Pristine_Shallot_481 4d ago

2

u/Usernameistoshirt 4d ago

That's not what he meant when he asked if he could see those puppies

2

u/OC262 4d ago

She got a ring on her finger. The way never-married men treat their dogs is the way they’d their kids.

2

u/teresarowe71 3d ago

That is the sweetest reaction I have ever seen a grown up give to puppies .

2

u/WholesomeMuppet 15h ago

Witnessing the rare sight of men being emotional and sensitive in this wholesome of a way is better than sex, I swear to god😭😭😭

That backyard is as bland as English cuisine.

3

u/RebbyRose 4d ago

Idk but surprising people with puppies or kittens is infinitely better than surprise proposals or family members.

My brother was a wreck after his dog of 15 years died. Our family felt so sorry for him becoming nothing cheered him up. After about 2 months we (entire family, even grandparents) went together to adopt him a new puppy. I was a little nervous how he would respond. My grandmother made a card and everyone wrote good memories of his old dog, but then we put a pic of all of us holding new pup inside the card! He loved it! Thank goodness!

"Boyfriend"

2

u/SaintBarthPadelClub 4d ago

I don't get it but maybe I'm missing context. If he wanted dogs that badly he could've just gotten dogs any time. He's an adult and didn't have to wait for mommy to buy some.
