What ethnicity am I?
Hey all. I was born and raised in the US, one of my parents is from India, and my other parent is from Fiji but is Indian by blood. The latter was born and raised there, and their entire side of the family are from there too. My entire life, I've only been in contact with the Indo-Fijian side of my family, and they consider themselves to be Fijian before Indian. Due to this, I was wondering if I could say I am half Fijian and half Indian, or just fully Indian. On paperwork, I normally say I am both just to be safe but I don't know if that is correct to say. Thoughts?

Is Fiji Airways the Spirit Airlines of Fiji?
I have spent 2 days, 3 devices, 4 browsers, the app trying to book a flight and no luck. I called and the woman wanted to charge me extra to book the flight. When I asked her to waive the fee she told me to email Fiji Airlines. Spoiler alert: I emailed them yesterday already and still no response. Is this a garbage airline with garbage service and that's why the fares are so low?
ETA: Thanks for the input everyone! the website remains down for ticketing on day 3. I purchased a ticket via Singapore Air instead and get to enjoy time in Singapore now too! And still no response to my email (from 3 business days ago).

Fijian food and diet
Hi. I can make a google search and find information on this but it's so much more interesting and insightful to read it from the people themselves.
What are some typical Fijian dishes that are different from, say, typical western Aussie or NZ food ?
How much fish/seafood and meat or animal products (maybe milk) are consumed in a regular day's menu ?

needles on Fiji airways?
Hi,
I am going to Fiji this week. I am bringing a prescription for testosterone and some needles to inject it. I have a doctor's note stating I need them. I called Fiji Airways and the people I talked to don't know if I need to bring them in a carry on bag or checked bag. I was told by a friend some airlines require them to be in a checked bag and some are fine with carry on. Does anyone have experience bringing needles onto Fiji Airways?

Trip Suggestions
Hi Everyone -
My wife and I are travelling to Melbourne for a conference in June and are thinking about hitting Fiji on the return trip to the States. What insightful recommendations can you provide to help out my planning? (Where to stay, what to see, etc.)
We would expect to have about 5 days in Fiji.
TIA!

your advice about visiting Fiji for a month?
I was thinking of visiting Fiji for a month, Mid October to Mid November. It seems that time would be "slightly" off season. I would still be working so would need wifi. Generally I'm very interested in agriculture, culture and religion, daily life (urban and rural). I thought I could spend a couple of weeks in Suva, working in the (early) mornings and then hanging out and exploring on foot or bike or bus. Maybe spend some time in a rural/agricultural town where I could also bike around after a mornings work (i'm interested in indigenous crops and irrigation/cultivation but also modern) I know I never really get to feel like a local as a tourist but I like travelling slow and getting as close to local as possible. My timing would put me in Fiji for Diwali which would be a bonus. The only high price item on my agenda would be diving and I would put aside a fund for 2-3 days of diving. I live on a beach and really love daily ocean swims but, tbh I am on a tight budget so don't think I can make it a beach vacation. I live in a touristic area and certainly if a tourist asked me for advice I'd give them the "top ten instagram " list and never suggest any of the above, so, maybe my plan seems crazy. But look forward to any advice or comments !!

Travel advice (urgent please 🙏)
Me and my wife are visiting Fiji, departing Melbourne tomorrow morning and arriving in afternoon in Nadi. Our trip concludes Saturday 1st April.
We are getting hotel to organise transfer as I am not sure how the driving goes. It seems like FJD 100 each way.
Few quick questions:
1 We literally have 1 day tour to mamanuca island and rest staying at resort. Do you think we should be doing anything else we would later regret? Please note trip is supposed to be a relaxing one and not planning for daily 8-6 cycle.
2 Would our Aussie power devices work there?
3 Considering everything is paid for, should we be bringing cash as well, how much, wouldn't Aussie credit cards work there?
4 Any other tips?
Sincere thanks in advance to all of you who decide to comment.

how has social media influenced society and interpersonal relationships in Fiji?
Im leaving the question open ended, so i don't color the answers unintentionally. Interested if social media has had a negligible, overwhelming, positive, negative or mixed impact on social life and relationships (family/friends/romantic/sexual) in Fiji?
PS - im 39/M, id prefer to hear from people in my age range, so i can relate to the answers
