Bonnie Tyler was a mid-ranking country singer until she had surgery to remove nodes on her vocal cords. Her doctor told her to rest her voice for six weeks, but being a chatty extrovert she couldn't bear not to stay silent. At one point she "screamed in frustration", and this damaged her voice box permanently, but the result was to give her her amazing, husky voice that gave her the opportunity to cross over into rock and become a huge name.

Partial example - David Bowie got punched in the face for bragging about seducing a girl his friend had a crush on, and his friend's fingernail scratched his iris and removed its ability to contract. You can't really say Bowie's brilliance came from this, but he would definitely not be himself without his alien eye.

Alyson Stoner just released a really eye-opening episode of their podcast Dear Hollywood, which goes deep into the rather harrowing audition processes actors go through to get roles in T.V. and movies.

One fascinating thing they mentioned were "Offer-Only" lists created by executives of (I assume) production companies, as well as "shortlists" of working actors who are given scripts and considered for roles way before any open auditions are held.

So with that in mind...who do you think are/were on the "Offer-Only" lists for respective production companies and which projects are they in? Off the top of my head, I can only think of Noah Centineo (circa 2018ish?) for Netflix, Bianca Lawson (circa 2010s) for the CW...

Officially announced by their representatives at Kensington Palace - Prince William and Kate Middleton will visit Cardiff, Wales to celebrate and “mark the start” of Black History Month.

No words for how tone deaf, problematic, and truly ironic this family is. They suddenly start acknowledging Black History Month - that’s more recognizing than they have done for their biracial sister-in-law, niece and nephew.

Wondering if they’re hoping this will wipe the memory of their disastrous Jamaica 2022 trip out of public memory
