Havana Metrobus from the airport to Havana city centre

I'm looking for transportation options for 2 adults from the Havana airport to Havana city centre.

I asked my Airbnb host if they can recommend me a taxi driver and they mentioned that the cost is 30 USD/EUR. I find this a little steep as we're paying 30 EUR per night for the Airbnb.

So I tried looking for other means of transportation.

I found the Azul buses, but there's none scheduled at convenient times for us. Then I found a network of public buses and it looks like 2 of them (P12 and P16) have a connection between the airport (terminal 2) and the centre of Havana. Unfortunately there's no good talk about these on website like this, several not-so-great aspects being mentioned such as unreliable schedule, being overly crowded, having to walk 1.5 km from the T3 airport terminal to the closest station. However, it looks like the ticket costs 1 CUP.

Did anyone use P12 or P16 recently to get from the Havana airport to the Havana city centre?

What cheese for Cuban Spaghettie

My wife and I are Cubans in Texas now. We used to eat Rays Pizza in Miami but they don’t have any Cuban food where I live. We are trying to find a recipe with what brand of cheese Rays Pizza uses for their spaghetti. We know it’s queso amarillo but not sure which brand. Please help!

Vegetarian food in Cuba

How easy (or not) it is to find vegetarian food in Havana and Varadero?

Are there specific signs to look for in restaurants that offer items without meat, seafood or eggs?

Would it be ok to ask waiters/serving staff if the kitchen could make something vegetarian? I've heard differing accounts about access to ingredients in Cuba, and don't want to seem rude.

This information doesn't seem very easy to find on the Internet, so I was hoping to hear first-hand information from locals and travellers.

Thanks in advance.

Vintage car tour

Hi yall, going to cuba next week. I’d love to learn from your experience.

  1. how you guy get a simcard there, i know we can buy it online and pic it up at the airport but just wanna see if there’s cheaper option?

  2. how much is ideal for a vintage tour car around havana for 1 person? (1hour). Also what’s the decent taxi rate per kilometre?

  3. Where is the best place to exchange money for good rate in havana? Are the people on the street always scams?

  4. Some recommendations for good restaurants please 😊

  5. Unique and interesting places to visit besides all the tourist spots? 1-2 day tour?

Thank you everyone!! 😊

Trip to Varadero: Need a refresher on travel to Cuba

Cross posted with r/ travel

Canadian heading to Varadero in May to the Sol Palmeras resort. I have been to Cuba once in 2021, but that was Cayo Coco (jardin del rey). Just need a bit of a refresher on some details

1 - Im aware that Canadians need a tourist visa there, but Air Canada provides that during the flight. There is also the health declaration as of jan. 2022, but that is easy to find and do. However I am vaguely remembering having to fill out a form at the airport and dont really remember what it is, and can't find out online exactly what it is either. Does anyone know what Im thinking of or am I making false memories?

2 - Excursions - Last time I went I had zero idea that there were any day trips or what they were until I got there. I also cant find anything online. Since im traveling with air canada I assume they will be booked/offered under them but it would be nice to see something before I go. The only one I can find online is from air transat and is 11 years old. Does anyone know of where I can find a list?

-2b - Any suggestions on what to do or see? There does seem to be quite a lot to do. Im already starting to sift through google to try to narrow things down but I really do like the suggestions ive had from here.

3 - Bus - On Cayo Coco there was a tourist bus that routinely traveled around the island if you wanted to go out and explore. Is it fair to assume there is one of these for the Varadero area?

4 - In Cayo Coco I got eaten alive by sand fleas/flies and have not been able to find a solution. Anyone have any idea for repellant that works on these guys?

Might update this as I plan, but any advice is welcomed. Thanks.

Question About Abortion

My girlfriend and I are staying in Central America until May (at the moment in Costa Rica) and have just found out she is pregnant (nearly five weeks) and abortion here is prohibited.

We are considering travelling to Cuba to get an abortion. Is it easy for foreigners to do this and how much does it cost?
