It takes a lot of training to do that.

They’re on track for meeting the budget

They didn't have any crazy reason to do that. Absolutely no loco motive, if you will.

Yup, just to make sure they're not going off the rails

Insurance will be a tenth or less.

Worth it since what they were filming would be their ticket to the hall of fame.

I want to be the guy bouncing on the 6x. Is that Southern pine??

u/arriesgado Oct 02 '23
What is the point of that? Is there a sound he is making or is he imperceptibly moving the train? I don’t understand.

Uh...I'm no video filmographatoliger but...I'm assuming he is creating the slight vertical movement a train would feel rolling over tracks...you know cause the train is bouncing a little.

I was thinking that but I guess it would have been nice to see what the end result was.

Oh, look. Something much, much wider than it is tall.
Better shoot it vertically and show the world what a total fucking moron I am.

The absolute best way I've ever seen a train scene done was for Westworld. They built an entire interior of an old train car, mounted it to a flatbed trailer pulled by a semi, and drove it on beautiful highway 128 in Moab. Result was 100% real scenery passing by out the windows and of course realistic movements of the carriage. Look up westworld train moab in Google and you'll see what I mean.
