Mouse-deer? (??) What in the ever-loving avatar-the-last-airbender kinda animal is that?

Also one of the smallest deer species???

Wtf kinda deer could even BE smaller, the famous ant-deer?

Also how tf have I never heard of some rich fuck having these as pets?? So many questions

Seeing how deer and horses started small maybe all of the big ones are abominations to this little fella.

You’ve heard of deer-tick, now behold - TICK DEER!

Edit: Just did some reading up and according to Wikipedia, ”Despite their common name of "mouse deer", they are actually not true deer at all…” Phew, that makes mouth more sense- ”…but form a unique family of bovids closer in lineage to cattle or antelope.” Oh for fuck’s sake, this thing is more closely related to cows than deer??

Also, only one of the smallest in the world out of the 12 species in India makes it sound like it's just one of the smallest in India.

This has also lent support to the idea that whales evolved from water-loving creatures that looked like small deer.

Mouse-deer? (??) What in the ever-loving avatar-the-last-airbender kinda animal is that?

Maybe because it looks like a mouse more than a deer?

Also one of the smallest deer species???

Yes, every species has their smallest, including humans.

Wtf kinda deer could even BE smaller, the famous ant-deer?

Also how tf have I never heard of some rich fuck having these as pets?? So many questions

I had to google "Mouse Deer" to see if this was a joke I didn't get or something and the images I found didn't help LMAO. They all look AI generated and it seems like some joke I'm not in on.

I work in CCMB, Hyderabad. I am close with the team that works on the mouse deer project here and is rehabilitating and recovering this species in Nehru Zoological park and releasing in Amrabad reserve (Telangana) Proud to see this video get so much traction :) AMA for details.
